Debbie McGee shares her one stipulation for new relationship after Paul Daniels' death

Debbie Mcgee hated magic and didn't know Paul Daniels Debbie McGee, 65, has shared how she needs someone with a "zest for life" after her late husband Paul Daniels died back in 2016 from a brain tumour.

Since his passing, she has been back on the dating scene and admitted to dalliances with various men, but is yet to find anything long-term.

Speaking on podcast Suddenly Single, Debbie shared: "I do need a driven person. I do need someone who has got a zest for life it doesnt have to say they are still working even.

"I want someone who wants to get up every day and enjoy life. Somebody who wants to sit and watch TV every day is not for me, " she added.

Debbie also shared that she did not believe in using dating apps and enjoyed meeting men in person on dates.

She continued: "I believe if you look for it, you won't find it. It has just to happen. I have lots of flirtations with men.

"I go out for dinner or drinks, but I haven't found anyone where both ways we have felt this is the person to be more than a friendship.

"I have never been on any of the dating apps. I like chemistry. When I met Paul, I didn't know who he was. I hated magicians. We were married for 30, but together for 40."

Debbie also admitted that loneliness hit her more when she was at home alone after losing Paul.

She recalled: “I did [struggle with loneliness] at first—mostly being at home alone, not when I was out.

Luckily for the former magician’s assistant, Strictly came along at just the right time when she was finding her grieving process particularly tough to cope with.

Paying tribute to the show, in which she wowed the audience and judges with professional partner Giovanni Pernice, she revealed: “Strictly helped me in so many ways. Firstly, it is the most wonderful show - every single member of the team is supportive."

Debbie is now working with a production company to create a “nice documentary” about Paul’s life. She feels that despite his fame, “there is so much the public does not know about him.”

The pair were married for almost 30 years after meeting in 1979 when the Surrey-born star joined one of Paul's shows as his assistant.

With a 21-year age gap between them, many thought the magician had struck gold, ending up with Debbie on his arm. However, the Strictly star admitted she "chased" her future husband for almost a decade before they got together.

She told the Daily Star newspaper: “Paul came to rehearsals and we just got on. We made each other laugh. But I was 20 years younger than him."
