Coronation Street enthusiasts believe they've figured out the fate of Joel Deering following his sudden vanishing act.

Viewers will remember that on Monday evening, Dee-Dee Bailey, portrayed by Channique Sterling-Brown, received a peculiar voice message from her wicked ex Joel, played by Calum Lill, leading DS Lisa Swain, enacted by Vicky Myers, to suspect it might be a suicide note.

Joel's wrongdoings were finally exposed in recent episodes, with evidence confirming his malevolent deeds, resulting in him facing jail time and being dumped by his fiancee Dee-Dee, who called off their wedding before receiving the strange message.

As law enforcement delved into Joel's disappearance and the cryptic message, officer Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, disclosed he had a lead on Joel's location and managed to pinpoint his last known whereabouts. They discovered his car parked near a bridge with a folded note on the dashboard, leading DS Swain to fear he may have taken his own life.

However, Dee-Dee was sceptical and didn't buy into the police's theory, deciding to visit the crime scene herself. After questioning Joel's previous victim, Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), about the location image she had tracked of Joel, Dee-Dee explored the area where she discovered a small car concealed in the forest, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Dee-Dee promptly informed DS Swain, who reassured her they would investigate further. Later, while examining Joel's flat, DS Swain and Kit found the notebook the villainous solicitor used for his note, realising that it was all meticulously premeditated.

As the story unfolded, Dee-Dee remained adamant that Joel had faked every detail, Kit's subsequent call confirmed the car in question belonged to Joel with both his DNA and a laptop found under the seat.

Intrigue deepened on Wednesday when Dee-Dee revealed to Kit her discovery that Joel had claimed back deposits for their wedding venue and holiday plans, actions odd for a man supposedly plotting his demise.

Yet later, when Kit discussed the case with DS Swain, he omitted Dee-Dee's crucial revelations - including the reclaimed deposits, fuelling speculation among viewers that Kit was complicit in an elaborate ruse.

Twitter has been ablaze with conspiracy theories, with fans convinced that Joel is alive, orchestrating his deceit from the shadows, and Kit possibly aiding his scheme. Scepticism about Kit's integrity is rife amongst viewers, remembering his history of 'false' evidence planting.

One viewer questioned: "Why didn't Kit tell Swain what Dee-Dee just told him? #Corrie", while others voiced suspicions: "Kit is dodgy as f**k #corrie" and predictions of Joel's imminent return: "I think Joel hiding somewhere nearby he vile #corrie" not to mention dire warnings about Kit's involvement: "Kit has a hand in this Joel business.
