BBC Ludwig viewers spot distracting issue with new series as they say same thing

Ludwig: Official BBC trailer

BBC's latest offering, Ludwig, had viewers riveted to their screens on Wednesday night (October 2), yet some were distracted by a particular annoyance.

The show's second instalment, featuring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin, was largely well-received as David's character delved into another chilling crime scene set in a stately Manor House. Initially framed as a missing person inquiry, the plot quickly escalated into a narrative much more grim and mysterious.

While audiences were engrossed in the darkly humorous plot, a number of them couldn't help but comment on the "orange and teal" colour scheme that dominated their screens. Flocking to X, formerly known as Twitter, several expressed that the colour grading seemed excessively "overwhelming".

One viewer lamented: "Just natural colours, esp. in a location like Cambridge. Orange and teal makes everything look chilly and sad, like a wet day in February. I like the series' mid-century modern/retro decor (inc. Saab like one my brother used to treasure! ) but teal blue a bit overpowering."

Another chimed in: "Am I the only one finding the orange and teal colour grade a bit overwhelming on #Ludwig??" Meanwhile, a third suggested: "If #Ludwig gets a second series, can they please drop the orange and teal?", reports the Mirror.

One viewer was captivated by the show's visuals, commenting: "Well, I'm enjoying Ludwig. But is the BBC trolling ITV's Professor T? Anyway, the colour palette of #Ludwig is fascinating: shades of blue, seemingly chosen to let shades of complimentary yellow and orange pop out. It's fascinating to watch unfold."

Audiences were thoroughly enchanted by the episodes and were clamouring for the BBC to commission a second series. A zealous fan posted: "I binged watched it and loved it, so yes please we need more and very very soon."

Another complimented the series, writing enthusiastically: "#Ludwig - put simply, I loved it. @RealDMitchell and Anne Maxwell Martin are just brilliant. Season 2 asap please@BBCOne."

Meanwhile, a third viewer expressed their enjoyment: "Loved the @BBCOne new comedy-drama #Ludwig with the funny David Mitchell @RealDMitchell and fabulous Anna Maxwell Martin. Binged the whole series. Clever, witty and intriguing. Beautifully set up for the second series..."

David Mitchell, one of the drama's stars, hinted that there might be more to come as not every mystery was solved in the initial episodes. He teased about an aspect of intrigue on the series, where the cipher on James' wall remains a puzzle: "Even over the whole first series, that's not all solved, which is why we hope for more."

Ludwig is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
