Ben Shepard stunned after contestant starts singing

Tipping Point host Ben Shephard struggled to pick his jaw up from the floor when a contestant randomly burst into a song live on air. The 49-year-old ITV star introduced a brand new set of players during Tuesday’s instalment when one lady decided to go rogue.

Ben was heard saying: “Right everybody ready. Hands on the buzzer. Here comes your first question. Which member of the royal family became first in line to the throne in September 2022?"

Maureen, a sales assistant from Glasgow, was quick off the mark and correctly answered by saying “Prince William.” Ben then asked her if she wanted to play or pass.

She was in it to win it so proceeded to drop zone one and chose a counter from the selected machine. Maureen then started singing a song as the coin began to fall which left Ben confused pulling a face to the other contestants.

At the top of her lungs, she was heard singing “When there were no answers to them all, if you love me, really love me, as I love you.” Ben quickly interrupted her and told her: “Maureen there is drops going on here why are you serenading us.”

Despite Ben’s effort to stop her, she carried on belting out the lyrics to one of her favourite tunes.

He struggled to hold back his laughter and suddenly started giggling as he said: “Thanks, Maureen. But I have no idea what it was.”

Her teammates failed to keep a straight face and were also spotted laughing as they stood on their podiums.

Hermoine, a London-based recruitment consultant, and Rob who was from Bristol both put their heads down in a bid to control their laughter.

Maureen shared that the song was called “The Answer to Everything.” Ben replied: “Well the answer to everything is nothing because nothing dropped.”

Ben continued: “But you did shove things around a fair bit and made some movement. You pushed the mystery counter over a little bit. But Maureen it is not going to drop so you have two counters to play for.”

Fans were left shocked and took to X and questioned where producers find the contestants. One user said: “No what an earth just happened why is she singing? Poor Ben he looks frightened.”

Another hoped they would see her on The Chase: “Hope we see Maureen on the Chase sometime. She is too much HA. #TippingPoint.” Meanwhile, a third person shared: “Seriously, where do they get these contestants?! #TippingPoint.”

However, her luck did run out as she was shortly eliminated and was followed by Hermoine. Rob made it through to the final round but walked home without the prize money.

Tipping Point airs during the week on ITV1 and ITVX at 4pm.
