A Place in The Sun: House hunter unimpressed with viewing

Laura Hamilton, the host of A Place in the Sun, was faced with quite the challenge in the latest episode when a buyer abruptly left during a property viewing.

Channel 4's hit series made a return on Monday (September 16) as Laura helped house-hunters Paul and his best mate Tina in their quest for the perfect holiday home in Benalmadena. Eager to find a Spanish getaway for himself and his husband Shaun who had stayed back in Britain, Paul stepped into the first property with high hopes.

However, upon entering the prospective Spanish escape, Paul's face dropped; the odour and decor of the place were not up to scratch, especially since the idea of renovating did not appeal to him at all.

Taken aback by his reaction, Laura said: "Silence. It's not a good sign!" Paul candidly responded: "It's not for me!"

When she asked if he wished to see more of the property, Paul didn't hesitate to cut the visit short. A disheartened Laura, though trying to mask her surprise, confessed: "I'm surprised," reports the Mirror.

Audiences flocked to social media to discuss the dramatic walkout. One fan quipped: "I absolutely knew he wasn't going to like that. For his decent budget, that looked sh**e." (sic)

Another chimed in with: "Hi all, late in today. Sounds like Laura's got off to a good start if they wouldn't even look round the first property."

Laura's patience was tested and she branded Paul "fussy" as he failed to be impressed with any of the properties she had lined up. The A Place in the Sun expert held out hope that the final house would change his mind.

But Paul dashed those hopes when he told Laura the last property was too large for his liking. At the show's conclusion, Laura sought to understand her mistake.

In a candid conversation, she explained to Paul that his £250k budget might need to be stretched further for his desired location. Paul took her advice into consideration, pondering over the possibility of opting for a penthouse apartment instead.

However, viewers were less than impressed, accusing Paul of time-wasting. One exasperated fan took to Twitter, venting: "Why didn't you just ask for a penthouse with a roof terrace for your budget..that would have suited your nonstop freaking whinging...! If you've just left a big house WHY ask Laura for another?" (sic)

Another chimed in, frustrated at the episode's outcome: "The luxury villa that Laura saw today is what that fella wanted for 250 grand, he was never going to buy anything. . waste of time. got my blood pressure up."

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
