Strictly star Toyah Willcox shares her 'biggest competition' ahead of show debut

Strictly: Johannes Radebe discusses his new partner

Strictly Come Dancing star Toyah Willcox has shared her thoughts on who she thinks is the one to watch this year.

The 66-year-old TV and singing icon will be brushing off her dancing shoes as she takes to the floor for the brand-new series which kicks off this weekend. With a career spanning over 40 years, Toyah is excited to get going but recently revealed who could be a dark horse in this year's show.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media outlets, the actress and singer revealed: "I actually think it's Chris [McCausland]. He's staggeringly good."

She further praised him saying, "He's so brave, so incommunicado with everything. He's an experience just to be in the room with. I think he's going to go all the way.

The star also shared her personal mission on the show, stating: "I'm flying the flag for pensioners." I'm the shortest, I'm the oldest. You know, I've just got to accept who and what I am and enjoy it.

But in addition to this Toyah explained that she always wanted to join the Strictly lineup. She confessed: "I love the idea of dancing.

"I think dancing is one of the most extraordinary things about being a human being. I just love it. I think it's the greatest way of expressing and getting in touch with your emotions. Music has always made me want to dance, so it feels very natural to have said yes to Strictly."

Chris will become Strictly's first ever blind contestant this year. The comedian and reality star first lost his sight when he was 22 due to a hereditary condition called retinitis pigmentosa.

"If anybody out there is thinking – How the hell is he going to do that? – then rest assured that I am thinking exactly the same thing. I don’t dance, I haven’t danced, I can’t dance, I can’t see the dancing I will have to do. What can possibly go wrong? OK don’t answer that!"

Discussing Chris' participation a source told The Sun: “Bosses are delighted by the signing and think Chris will be great on the show” as “he has a hilarious sense of humour and an infectious personality."

Strictly Come Dancing returns to screens this Saturday.
