BBC's Naga Munchetty tells co-host to 'try harder' as forecast is 'always their fault'

BBC Breakfast: Naga tells co-star to 'try harder' in frank weather chat

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty made a cheeky admission during the latest instalment of the popular morning show, as she told her colleague to "try harder".

Naga was back on the famous red sofa on Saturday morning (September 14) alongside her co-host Ben Thompson. But when joined by weather forecaster Sarah Keith-Lucas, newsreader Naga failed to mince her words.

Discussing the latest weather update, Naga confessed that she's been keeping her moaning at bay lately due to the forecast being to her liking. She said: "It's been a while Sarah that I haven't whined at our forecasters and I'm not whining at you today."

Ben chimed in and said: "Because it's all their fault." Naga replied jokingly: "Yes, particularly Sarah's!"

Sarah responded: "I mean a try but it doesn't always work out." Naga then said: "Keep trying harder. Try harder, you're doing better today!"

She then giggled and introduced what was coming up next in the show. Ben also appeared to giggle at Naga's comment too.

Later on, Ben and Naga offered joking clapped for Sarah, following another pleasing report. Naga then said: "There you go Sarah, another round of applause for you!"

However, this wasn't the first time the news anchor teased her colleagues this week. During Friday's show (September 13), the 49-year-old was back in the studio with regular host Charlie Stayt.

Minutes into the programme, Naga jokingly taunted Charlie, 62, who appeared to squirm over a particular segment. In the show, the pair discussed the recent fly infestations in Wales with correspondent Hywel Griffith.

Naga said: "Residents of a village in South Wales say they've been inundated by a mysterious swarm of flies."

"People living in Bettws near Bridgend say they can't open their windows or eat lunch in peace because of the insects," Charlie added. But when images of dead files were seen on screen, Charlie found it difficult to hide his disgust.

Seeing his expression, Naga asked: "Has that bothered you?" But her serious tone quickly turned to giggles after Charlie admitted he didn't like the report at all.

He replied: "A bit like that, isn’t it? Urgh."

Charlie and Naga usually present BBC Breakfast from Thursdays to Saturdays. But Charlie appeared to be missing in action during the latest episode as Ben took his place on the red sofa alongside Naga.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
