GMB's Kate Garraway admits 'I feel odd' as she makes health admission live on air

GMB: Kate feels 'odd' after changing thyroid medication

Kate Garraway confessed to feeling "a bit odd" during a conversation with Richard Arnold and Rob Rinder on Friday's episode of Good Morning Britain.

The mother-of-two attributed her unusual feelings to a change in her thyroid medication, adding that co-star Richard's hyperactive behaviour was not helping matters.

Before the moment unfolded, Richard shared some Strictly news: "Strictly returns to BBC One this Saturday evening from 7.20pm and catch GMB on Monday for our chat with the stars backstage."

Kate chimed in: "Can I just mention that I have changed my thyroid medication and everything is slightly surreal and you're not helping."

Shocked by Kate's admission, Richard continued: "Right...we have worked together for 24 years, I have never helped, you have always got your fingers on the edge of the cliff."

"Have you really changed your meds?" he asked as Kate went on: "I feel a bit odd, I confess that now."

In a more sombre segment of the show, Kate became emotional while speaking with Linda Alushi, a grieving mother who lost her four-year-old son, Daniel Klosi, to sepsis. Despite being taken to the Royal Free Hospital in Camden four times within a week by his concerned parents, Daniel tragically died.

Linda appeared on the ITV programme alongside actor Jason Watkins, who also experienced the loss of a child due to sepsis. Recalling the heartbreaking events, Linda said: "We were discharged and told to give him paracetamol and wait for the temperature to go down, and that it would be ok."

She continued: "The next day, he was not well - obviously we didn't send him to nursery. He wasn't eating, he wasn't drinking, he wasn't the Daniel we knew."

Linda further described how Daniel would stay all day in their arms, showing no improvement despite previous experiences with viruses where his condition would improve after a fever, reports the Mirror.

Jason, known for his role in McDonald and Dodds, shared his own painful experience, saying: "That's one of the painful things, thinking, 'Did we do everything we could? ' It's easy to blame yourself... because I was there the second time she was discharged.

"We are an imperfect family who have survived the worst thing that can happen to a parent. It's indescribable, the sense of guilt, loss, the absence of your child, the light of your life is gone and you don't know how you can go on."

Kate triumphed at the National Television Awards on Wednesday, scooping up the Best Authored Documentary prize for her moving film about her late husband Derek Draper.

With her children Billy and Darcey by her side, Kate delivered a heartfelt thank-you speech on stage. Earlier this year, Derek passed away after a prolonged four-year struggle with Covid complications.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
