BBC confirm devastating drama starring Shameless and Motherland actors

Writer Jimmy McGovern is set to captivate audiences once again with a heartbreaking new drama series.

The latest offering is rooted in the heart of Liverpool, capturing the trials and tribulations of the Mitchell family as they grapple with the harrowing aftermath of abuse within their own family. Under Julia Ford's skillful direction, the story delves into the complex web of emotions wrought by grooming and sexual assault on a single family unit.

Anna Friel, Bobby Schofield, Anna Maxwell Martin, and David Threlfall are leading the way, alongside Mark Womack who completes the already impressive cast. More names are set to be announced for the drama, reports the Mirror.

McGovern expressed his excitement about the top-tier talent attached to the project, stating: "I can't believe the cast and crew that have been assembled for this production. It's a challenging film, yes, but I can't wait for it to be shown."

Meanwhile, Lindsay Salt, BBC Drama's luminary, commended the incredible team behind this ambitious drama, adding: "Jimmy McGovern is one of our greatest dramatists, and a master at writing about today's world."

The 90-minute drama is being produced by LA Productions for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, with Donna Molloy on board as producer. The executive producers include Jimmy McGovern, Colin McKeown for LA Productions, and Nawfal Faizullah and Katherine Bond for the BBC.
