Jen Affleck features in The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives but what is there to know about the reality star?

The eight-episode docuseries made its debut on Friday, September 6, on Disney+ and Hulu and has caused quite a stir with subscribers and the LDS (Latter-Day Saints) Church.

The show delves into the lives of eight Mormon wives from Utah who shot to fame with their social media #MomTok followed by a “soft-swinging” scandal.

Jen Affleck, 25, is one of the wives who signed up for the show, having been married to husband and medical student Zac Affleck since 2019.

The pair met on Mormon dating app Mutual in 2018, when she was 18 and he 21, with them getting engaged after six months and married the following year.

They welcomed daughter Nora in November 2021, followed by their son Luca in July last year.

Jen started up a videography business a couple of years ago when she began posting about her pregnancy journey and ended up getting millions of views overnight, thus launching her social media career.

She already has a link to the world of celebrity though as her husband is a distant relative of Hollywood actor Ben Affleck.

The Gone Girl star is Zac’s dad’s second cousin who he met many years ago but Jen has not personally been introduced.

She didn’t know the rest of The Secret Lives cast prior to the Disney+ show with her manager putting the idea of joining the series in front of her.

However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing with Jen admitting that she and Zac’s marriage was already in a “rocky place” prior to filming.

There was then even more drama when the cast went to Las Vegas and Zac said she would find herself divorced if she went to a Chippendales show.

Speaking to Vulture, she said: “It’s scary to have your relationship exposed to the world.

“We went into the season in a rocky place, but I still wanted to move forward with filming, because that’s what felt right to me, my career, and wanting to provide for my family.

“Looking back, it’s probably the best thing to happen to us, because a lot of the things they showed were things I didn’t want to acknowledge.

“That’s something a lot of members of the Church do, and I think that’s something that needs to change in the culture.”

She went on to say that they had done “therapy nonstop” since filming and are continuing to work on their marriage.
