ITV Emmerdale fans 'work out' John Sugden's identity after villager 'fakes' his death

Emmerdale: Tracy finds out that Nate has left the village

Emmerdale fans think Nate Robinson (played by Jurell Carter) has left the soap without airing a goodbye scene - with many thinking he died in the barn fire. During Thursday night's hour-long instalment, fans discovered that Ruby Milligan (Beth Cordingly) and Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) had survived the explosion in the barn.

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and newcomer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) also survived after attempting to help those trapped inside. Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) also put their lives at risk but managed to escape without any injuries.

However, despite letting slip he was a medic in the army, fans think John, who confirmed he was leaving the village, is hiding something.

As Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) approached John in the village, she questioned what had happened and where Nate had gone. "Can you smell smoke?" Tracy asked as John replied: "There was a fire at the farm."

In shock, Tracy asked: "What? Not a bad one though?" to which John said: "Pretty much as bad as it gets."

Tracy went on to question who was there and whether everyone got away unscathed.

"Moira, Ruby, and Will were taken to hospital," John confirmed.

Tracy asked: "But they are going to be ok?" as the newcomer admitted: "I don't know. They weren't in a good way, it didn't look good."

When quizzed on where Nate was, John confirmed he had left the village already - but is he telling the truth?

John explained: "He wasn't there, he left before it happened, he mentioned Shetland."

In shock, Tracy responded: Yeah, I knew he was going there, I just thought I might have seen him before he took off."

"I am sorry," John concluded as Tracy added: "It's not your fault, is it."

However, fans think John has something to do with Nate's disappearance, with some theorising that he is in his van. Others have suggested that Nate died in the barn fire.

On a Facebook fan page, one fan shared: "I think John is hiding something #Emmerdale."

"So John was army doctor? #Emmerdale," another quizzed while a third added: "I think Nate is in John's van because he shut the door quick when Tracy spoke to him."

Someone else agreed: "John is hiding something in his van, close the door quickly enough, and wanted to get back his van sharpish." (sic)

Throwing another wild theory into the mix, another suggested: "#Emmerdale Perhaps Nate is gonna fake his death to get away from Tracey."

Other fans echoed the same sentiment: "Telling u Nate was caught in that fire. He’s going to be found dead #emmerdale."

"Nate is 100% dead #emmerdale," one fan stated.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
