Vernon Kay shares home life chaos after wife Tess Daly sends frantic message live on air
Vernon Kay has revealed that family life isn't without its fair share of chaos, as proven by his wife Tess Daly's recent message.
While presenting his BBC Radio 2 show on Wednesday, Vernon, 50, received a text from Tess, 55, who informed him that the washing machine door had come off in her hands.
He told fans: "I got a video message from Tess saying, 'You're not going to believe what's happened?' As she's opened the washing machine door, it fell off in her hand. How bad is that?"
The presenter went on to insist that he was already aware of the issue and advised Tess to press against the door during the spin cycle, to prevent any more trouble.
With a chuckle, Vernon imagined his wife leaning against the appliance, quipping: "Strictly Come Dancing launch show at the weekend... everyone looking glamorous, 'Oh that's Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly, who when her washing machine goes into a spin cycle she has to sit against it so that her door doesn't fall off'."
Following his revelation, Vernon received an influx of messages from listeners teasing him about seemingly not doing his own laundry, reports the Mirror.

Vernon Kay reassured fans that he does do his own washing after Tess' nightmare (Image: GETTY)In response, he assured listeners: "People have messaged in... don't you worry I do my laundry, don't you worry about that."
He even detailed his approach to washing clothes, adding: "[I'm] quite specific how I do my laundry, I kind of pre-wash, especially with the kit we were wearing over the weekend at Preston, that went in straight away, eurgh, stinky! ".
Returning to the radio today, Vernon invited listeners to share voice notes about tasks they're procrastinating on.
Sharing his story, the host candidly confessed that his "house chores list" often takes a backseat for his love for golf, as he'd rather spend time perfecting his swing in the garden.

He divulged: "I have a house chores list but more often than not, end up practising my chipping and my putting with my 56 degree wedge in the back garden."
Joking about his domestic priorities, he quipped: "Putting on the carpet... 'Have you fixed that dishwasher?' Oh no, but I've kind of got three of the four golf balls in the bucket in the back garden from chipping in, so it's a win win."
Vernon and his wife enjoy family life in their Beaconsfield country home with daughters Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14.
Earlier this year, Phoebe spoke in her first joint interview with Vernon, where they discussed topics ranging from nepotism to family dynamics and her aspirations.

Phoebe also shared her thoughts on education and career exploration, adding: "I think you go to uni to figure out what you want to do in life. I'd like to do some work experience, as it's hands-on, even if I start as a runner and work my way up."
