Susanna Reid has issued an apology after Good Morning Britain producers posted an update about the popular morning show on Tuesday. The 53 year old presenter, who has been at the helm of GMB since 2014 following her switch from the BBC to ITV, has shared the screen with a variety of co-hosts including Ben Shephard and Richard Madeley, and recently she has been joined by Ed Balls for the morning broadcast.

Both she and Ed feature prominently in a video that was uploaded to GMB's official Instagram page on Tuesday.

In the footage, Ed greets viewers with: "Hey bestie", to which Susanna responds: "End your BRAT summer with us at Good Morning Britain". Ed then describes Susanna as "Very cutesy, very mindful, very demure", before Susanna comments that Ranvir Singh possesses "main character energy".

Susanna goes on to say that the new panel "hits different", and Ed subsequently labels showbiz reporter Richard Arnold as having "unspoken rizz". Text overlaying the beginning of the video reads: "Our Gen Z producer writes our tease script", while the post is captioned: "It's giving... journalism".

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=118222&playerApiId=v118222');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v118222"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Susanna was quick to respond to the post, simply writing: "I can only apologise..." Fans have also weighed in, with Elleinad commenting: "I love Ed, it's the Laura in her rainy era for me" and Sarah adding: "I mean it's giving A for effort", reports the Liverpool Echo.

Emily enthused: "This is THE BEST THING EVER" and Jay complimented: "Great job". Zoe tagged a friend and wrote: "I'm howling".

Meanwhile, Susanna was forced to give some "breaking news" during Wednesday's episode ahead of the National Television Awards.

She told viewers at home: "I've got breaking news for you, Richard Arnold has been getting ready, and Charlotte doesn't yet know what she is going to wear."

Charlotte chimed in: "Little bit worrying," as Richard replied: "They're going to be laying out different things for the both of us."

His co-star then joked: "Yes, let's hope they don't get us mixed up!"

GMB airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
