GMB host awkwardly admits 'I've never heard of them' about famous guests

GMB: Ed Balls says he doesn't know who The Jonas Brothers are

Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls faced an embarrassing moment on air when he confessed to being clueless about the identity of a celebrity guest.

While presenting the ITV morning programme alongside Susanna Reid, with Richard Arnold handling the showbiz updates, they aired an interview with the Jonas Brothers in light of their upcoming UK and Ireland tour.

The atmosphere turned awkward back in the studio as Ed revealed his ignorance about the pop group, questioning their fame and prompting a gentle rebuke from Susanna.

Following the segment, Richard probed Ed for any questions, noticing his baffled expression and gesturing hands. Ed responded: "I'm sorry, I mean, are these guys famous? I have to admit I've never heard of them in my life. I heard two tracks of them in that report and I've never heard of them. Honestly, I'm so sorry. I try and keep up."

Susanna interjected with a witty remark: "You're too obsessed with the Gallagher brothers and don't have time for the Jonas Brothers, do you?" which sparked laughter among them. Later, still perplexed, Ed inquired if they were a boyband, leading Richard to mention the eager fans lining up early in Belfast for their show, leaving Ed astonished, reports the Mirror.

The brothers, who have been together since 2005, split after disagreements but their shared passion for music, influenced by their father's own musicality, saw them reunite to continue their journey.

Joe confessed to MoreFM earlier this year: "Music was always something that was around us. Our father pretty much plays everything. He's always singing. So it's just kind of natural for us to pick up an instrument and start songwriting together."

They went on hiatus in 2011 and decided to part ways in 2013, only to find their way back to the stage in 2019 with new music. Discussing the reasons behind their split and eventual reunion, Nick revealed: "There's just naturally times when that tension builds up. But we genuinely enjoy the music that we make together and the fact that, you know, this chapter, that that journey together is even more significant than it was when we had the first kind of pop of success."

As for the secret to their continued success, Nick added: "The parents that brought their kids when they were in their teens when we first began, they still want to come with their adult kids who have kids of their own."

"So there's sort of three different generations that, know, this music has affected people's lives so it's really special. We'll never be able to know all of those stories. But when you hear certain people singing... I want to know what was the the journey they took, together as family or friends and as a couple that made these songs that much more significant to them."
