Coronation Street's DS Swain hit with devasting blow as she makes grim Joel discovery
Coronation Street's DS Lisa Swain, portrayed by Victoria Myers, is dealt a considerable setback when she faces removal from the pivotal Joel Deering case.
Currently, DS Swain and colleague Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) are engrossed in assembling a criminal case against Joel for his vicious assault on character Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), amidst insufficient evidence for an arrest prompting the closure of the case.
This week, viewers will witness a tense turn of events as the duo attempts to reach out to Elliea teenage girl preyed upon by Joelin hopes that her testimony could imprison the assailant for good. Ellie was previously persuaded by Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) to divulge details about Lauren's vanishing act.
Although initially blaming Nathan Curtis, played by Chris Harper, further developments disclose Joel's coercion behind her accusation.
The looming scenes scheduled for next week's episodes on ITV feature Swain revealing to Craig Tinker, Colson Smith's character, the discovery of troubling messages between Joel and Ellie. She elucidates, "There are inappropriate texts between Joel and a girl he was representing. An Eleanor Benton. Does that name ring any bells? ".

" Swain confirms: "Yeah, it's horrible, it's sickening but he called her Ellie.", reports the Liverpool Echo.
Craig then recalls: "Actually, maybe this does ring a bell. A while back Bethany mentioned an Ellie. She reckoned that Nathan Curtis had assaulted her."
Swain probes further: "Did you follow it up? " Craig reveals: "I went around to her address but she'd legged it by the time I got there. I think maybe she was scared."
Swain suggests a link: "Well if this is the same Ellie then we could be onto something here. What if Joel forced her to lie to put Nathan in the frame? " Craig recalls a similar pattern: "Like with Lauren."

Swain elaborates: "Exactly. This Ellie was one of Joel's clients which means she was arrested at the very least but I can't check the system. I've been told to step away from the case so I'm not allowed to do any digging but.."
Before Swain can finish, Craig interjects: "But I am and that's what you're telling me this. You want me to check it out and report back to you."
Swain acknowledges Craig's acumen: "You're sharp as a tack, PC Tinker. I know it's a huge favour." Craig realises the risk: "I'd be out on my ear if anyone find out."
DS Swain responds lightly: "No pressure." Craig insists on his commitment: "I want this monster locking up as much as you do." Will Craig put his career on the line?
