The Chase: Player takes minus offer

Bradley Walsh fronted new episodes of the quiz programme but furious viewers were left raging just minutes into The Chase. The ITV favourite introduced four new players to take on the quizmasters during a milestone episode as they marked 15 years of the beloved show.

In a show shake-up the contestants had to face two Chasers as opposed to one - as they went up against Mark Labbett, otherwise known as The Beast, alongside Shaun Wallace, who is also known as the Dark Destroyer.

"Welcome back to The Chase," Bradley said. "Double trouble... my team are taking on not one but two Chasers and taking on The Beast or The Dark Destroyer is Jenny."

Jenny, a primary schoolteacher from Warrington, was the third contestant but did not fare well during her cashbuilder having banked £2,000.

The team had already secured £14,000 but Jenny sparked outrage when she opted for the minus offer of £2,000, despite being offered £60,000.

@jas_mou_dol tweeted: "Can't believe she took the minus offer #thechase nice dress tho."(sic)

@SteveCampbell68 agreed: "Selfish Jenny going for the minus option - absolute disgrace #thechase." While @Mr_Bluue007 said: "Why come on the show if you're going to take the minus offer? Should stuck with her 2k."

@ImogenJoyx remarked: "I’m sorry but I want them all to lose now pls #thechase."

In addition, her fellow teammates Darragh, Anne and Paul urged Jenny to take the £2,000.

"I really appreciate the advice from the team," she commented, "but I think I just want to get back home so I'm going to take the minus £2,000."

Others hit out at Jenny's inability to get many questions correct as @JSapier said: "#TheChase Feel free to answer a question right love."

The team got 19 questions correct and much to their delight won against The Beast, who only got 13 correct with three seconds left on the clock, as they walked away with a prize fund that totalled £17,000.
