Jimmy Tarbuck talks about his cancer diagnosis

Showbiz legend Jimmy Tarbuck appeared on Good Morning Britain to update ITV viewers on his health. Presenter Susanna Reid asked how he's doing after his prostate cancer diagnosis in 2020 along with a later melanoma discovery.

The entertainer said: "They said a nice thing to me at the Marsden, I salute the Marsden and the NHS. They looked after me and they said, 'Sit down, how are you feeling?'. I said I feel great."

Jimmy told Susanna and Ed Balls that the doctors explained to him that although he’s got cancer, he won’t die from it. However, the told him he will die with the disease.

He continued: “I said, ‘I'll buy that. Put me down for one of those please’.”

During the show, the two presenters told viewers Jimmy was still actively touring and would continue doing so across the UK throughout October.

The showbiz star said: "I've been everywhere. I love the shows. Do I like being Jimmy Tarbuck? I love it. I love it when I'm up there, I don't like the driving to the gigs!"

While speaking to Susanna and Ed, the 84-year-old shared the odd pact he has with singing sensation Sir Tom Jones. Ed questionned: "Are you going to sing at each other’s funeral?”

Jimmy confirmed, as he revealed it depended on who died first, he replied: “I said, If I sing at yours, it won’t be the same as you. You’ll sing and they’ll all throw knickers at you!"

When his friend asked what would be thrown at Jimmy, he cheekily replied it would be beer bottles. Speaking highly of Tom, the entertainer said: "He's a great lad!

As their conversation came to an end, Jimmy quickly told Susanna what his sons call her.

Looking puzzled when he teased it was related to her former co-star on the show, Jimmy said: " “You’re him, in a wig. Piers Morgan in a wig!"

Susanna was instantly taken aback by the remark, unsure whether or not it was a good or bad thing.

Jimmy quickly explained it was meant as a compliment as Susanna replied: "Oh ok, I’m glad you had to point out that it was a compliment because I’m not sure if it sounds like a compliment!"
