Does Mrs Hall leave All Creatures Great and Small?

All Creatures: Mrs. Hall hands her notice in to Mr. Farnon

All Creatures Great and Small is returning to Channel 5 with season five very soon and it will see the return of Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon. Nicholas Ralph and Rachel Shenton will also be back as new parents, James and Helen Herriot.

The family drama largely takes place at Skeldale House, with housekeeper Mrs Hall (played by Anna Madeley) at its helm. She has been through a lot since the series began, from making contact with her son to finding new love.

In season two, viewers are introduced to Gerald Hammond (Will Thorp), one of Siegfried Farnon's (Sam West) clients. He immediately takes a shine to Mrs Hall and she too begins to develop feelings for Gerald.

By season four, the pair begin a romantic relationship, but it appears to be short-lived when Gerald tells Mrs Hall he is leaving Yorkshire to look after a family member.

He gave Mrs Hall the opportunity to accompany him, leaving her with a very important decision to make. Here's all you need to know about whether she leaves.

To Siegfried's delight, Mrs Hall ended up withdrawing her resignation, realising she could not bear to part with the family and friends she had made at Skeldale House.

Actress Anna Madeley discussed what could have happened had Gerald not left, telling Masterpiece: "I think there’s a world in which those two characters could have made each other quite happy.

"I think they were good companions for one another and had a lot in common. It’s difficult to answer, isn’t it, knowing that it had to come to an end?

"It’s quite difficult to think about the what if's. I think that what’s so hard at the end is that there isn’t a reason between them, as such, for it not to have worked out."

Thankfully the couple ended things on good terms and Mrs Hall took a lot of positives away from the relationship.

Gerald helped her move forward with her divorce and start a clean slate when it came to her personal life.

As for Mrs Hall's future in the series, there is no evidence to suggest she leaves Skeldale behind, which is good news for fans.

All Creatures Great and Small is back on Channel 5 later this year
