At long last, the real star of SpongeBob SquarePants--pun fully intended--is getting a chance to shine. The Patrick Star video game was officially revealed this week and is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As you might have guessed from the game's title, it stars Patrick in his very own adventure. Preorders are now live for the game ahead of its October 4 release, including a special steelbook edition for Nintendo Switch and a standard edition available on PlayStation and Xbox.

Nintendo Switch players can grab SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Video Game in a special steelbook edition. It includes the base game on Nintendo Switch and a steelbook case with exclusive wrap-around cover at featuring Patrick Star's smilin' mug. This is the only physical version of the game available for Nintendo Switch and no other consoles appear to be getting this steelbook release. However, there is a $40 standard edition available for PlayStation and Xbox players.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Video Game will also be available in a $40 standard edition on PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X. These versions only include the base game on your platform of choice in a normal case, so these versions aren't as fancy as the Switch steelbook edition but are $10 cheaper.

While Patrick has been playable in several SpongeBob SquarePants games before, like the recent Cosmic Shake game, this is his first solo adventure in Bikini Bottom. Famous locations like the Krusty Krab and Glove World can be visited, and the game is described as an open-world adventure full of challenges, treasure, and familiar faces.
