GMB's Richard Madeley halts ITV show for 'biggest news of the year' in 'breaking' moment

Oasis reunion tour announced for 2025

Good Morning Britain was abruptly interrupted this morning to deliver a breaking news announcement.

Richard Madeley had been hinting at the upcoming story since the early hours, confirming at 8am that Oasis fans would receive a significant update on Noel and Liam Gallagher's future in the Brit-pop band. The rest of the show was eagerly anticipating the big news with Richard labelling it the "biggest showbiz news of the year".

Finally, Charlotte Hawkins was prepared to disclose the news, confirming four concerts at London's Wembley stadium, as well as dates in Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Dublin. Charlotte stated: "That is the breaking news."

She added: "We've been counting down to the moment, haven't we, at 8 o'clock, when we knew Oasis were going to announce something. They've revealed news of a huge UK tour, the news is that Oasis are reuniting for 2025."

Charlotte then read aloud: "Oasis said, 'The guns have fallen silent, the stars have aligned, the great wait is over. Come see it will not be televised.'" Her words were accompanied by a BREAKING NEWS strap in all caps, reports the Mirror.

Noel and Liam initially teased fans on their social media account on Sunday (August 25), with a short clip in the font and style of their iconic logo. The post displayed the date "27.08.24" and the time "8am" but offered little else.

Their official statement later proclaimed: "'This is it, this is happening'. Tickets go on sale this Saturday 31st August (8AM IST / 9AM BST)" and then went on to detail the dates: "Cardiff Principality Stadium - 4th/5th July. Manchester Heaton Park - 11th/12th/19th/20th July. London Wembley Stadium - 25th/26th July and 2nd/3rd August. Edinburgh Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium - 8th/9th August. Dublin Croke Park - 16th/17th August."

Overwhelmed by the announcement, fans took to social media with reactions like "It's actually happening!" and "Wow, we really did get the Oasis reunion before GTA 6."

Appearing on GMB later, entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold shared his perspective on the frenzy, acknowledging that the swarm of fans had caused Oasis' website to buckle under the pressure.

Charlotte chimed in suggesting that the impending ticket sales for their gigs might "crash the internet", whilst her colleague Richard jovially pledged assistance to get his co-presenter leg over the rope insinuating he'd help secure some of those golden tickets.
