The One Show taken off air just days after Jermaine Jenas sacked

Jermaine Jenas hosts The One Show with Alex Jones in July

The One Show will not be broadcast on Monday, 26 August. This comes shortly after the regular host, Jermaine Jenas, was dismissed by the BBC following allegations of sending inappropriate messages to two female colleagues.

The reason for today's absence of The One Show from its usual slot remains unclear. However, it could be due to the broadcasting of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on BBC One at 6:30pm.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual event held at Edinburgh Castle. The coverage will run from 6.30pm until 7.30pm on BBC One, with commentary provided by JJ Chalmers and Jennifer Reoch, reports OK!.

This change in schedule follows the news of Jermaine's dismissal, which broke while he was on air on talkSPORT Drive. In a subsequent interview with The Sun, the former footballer apologised for his actions.

He insisted that he had done "nothing illegal" but admitted feeling "ashamed" of his behaviour. He described his actions as "self-sabotage" and acknowledged that he had let down himself, his family, friends, and colleagues.

In his conversation with the publication, the footballer said: "I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down. I owe everyone an apology, especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry."

He further added: "I did nothing illegal. These were inappropriate messages between two consenting adults."

During the candid interview, Jermaine opened up about the difficult conversation with his wife Ellie, who he's been married to for 13 years, saying she was "absolutely raging" after the incident. He's since been ousted from their bedroom.

"Ellie is absolutely raging. She's human. When I see her now, she is just making sure the children are OK. It's just about the children right now. It's the school holidays and they're trapped in the house because photographers are outside my house. They're like, 'What's going on, Daddy?' It's tough. I've got to take responsibility and I've apologised to all of them," Jermaine confessed.

He also touched on the struggle of discussing the scandal with his teenage and pre-teen children. "They're obviously of an age where they're aware of social media and other bits and pieces. That's been hard. I've let everyone down. Even my dog looked at me disappointed. It's just hard at home for the kids right now," he admitted.
