SAR sees positive results in luring talent: CE

Chief Executive John Lee has hailed the success of his administration in attracting foreign talent and businesses to the SAR. In a video message as part of his Policy Address consultation, Mr Lee said officials have gone all out to look for new opportunities over the past year, despite facing many challenges. "As Hong Kong is going through economic transformation, we have continuously strengthened our efforts to grab talent and attract enterprises and capital to Hong Kong," Lee said. "With a special focus on innovation and technology, we pursue development in new quality productive forces and reinforce our status as an international financial centre, aviation hub and trade centre. We will build Hong Kong into a global hub for high-calibre talent and strive for economic growth and development." The video also featured a number of people who decided to set up shop in Hong Kong recently. They included Daniel Seah, the chief executive of Los Angeles-based Digital Domain, an Oscar-winning production house specialising in visual effects for movies. "When I deal with officials in Hong Kong, they are clear about what this place needs. They are also clear about what our company needs," he said. "A research and development base is most crucial for a company, especially for us since we are built on technology." As of July, Hong Kong has engaged over 100 strategic and innovation and technology enterprises which agreed to set up or expand their businesses in the city. They have generated investment of HK$52 billion and created more than 15,000 jobs.
