Michael Mosley's heartbreaking prediction on Channel 5 show leaves viewers in tears
Dr Michael Mosley appeared on screens posthumously this evening as Channel 5 aired the first installment of the three-part series, Michael Mosley: Wonders of the Human Body, which will show some of the final scenes the TV medic ever filmed. One segment in particular became all the more poignant in light of his death in June this year.
While investigating the possibility he could have a heart attack he referred to his father's death saying he wouldn't "go the same way".
"I just had a new test that can predict your heart attack risk before it happens," he explained. Dr Mosley admitted the doctors warned him that he had a life-threatening buildup such as plaque in the arteries which can cause a fatal heart attack and if they were to rupture it would "kill him".
He checked to see if his damage was reversible and tests confirmed he did not have inflamed arteries, meaning his chances of having a heart attack were small. Dr Mosley remarked: "So another way of looking at this is saying I have a 94 per cent chance of making it to 74, which means I have a 94 per cent chance of beating my dad."
The TV doctor admitted he was "relieved", adding he was worried about the results. "That was stressful and at least reassuring in at least I know now that it's unlikely that I will go the same way as my dad," Dr Mosley added.

The 67-year-old tragically died this year but put his own body under the microscope just weeks before the show. Over the three episodes, the documentary shows him taking a close look at why we age, and how our bones break, as well as pioneering cancer treatments.
The This Morning regular went missing while he was on holiday in Greece in June this year. He was later found dead by a rescue team on the island of Symi days later.
CCTV footage appeared to show the TV doctor making his way down a rocky slope close to a fence before he fell out of view. His widow said Michael appeared to have undertaken an "incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn't be easily seen" by emergency search teams.
An initial examination by a coroner ruled out foul play. It was revealed that his cause of death was from natural causes of dehydration.
Announcing the news of his death, his widow Dr Bailey Mosley said in a statement: "I don't know quite where to begin with this. It's devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together."
