Emmerdale: Jai Sharma agrees to go into business with Caleb

Emmerdale viewers have been left seething after Jai Sharma, portrayed by Chris Bisson, decided to enter into a business partnership with Caleb Milligan (William Ash) sidelining Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) in their acrimonious divorce proceedings.

Following the recent split between Jai and Laurel, the duo have been incessantly squabbling while being compelled to collaborate professionally.

However, during Tuesday's visit to the village (August 20), Jai was taken aback when Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) announced her plans to partner with Laurel in business once Jai offloads his shares of The Hop.

Yet, after Gabby confirmed that the funds for the shares would be transferred to Jai, he was spotted making a covert call to an unidentified individual - who is now revealed to be Caleb.

In Wednesday's episode (August 21), Jai's actions became increasingly underhanded as he lied during his mediation session with his estranged spouse, Laurel.

While discussing financial matters, Jai claimed to be "skint" despite receiving money from the shares purchased by Laurel, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Jai has also insisted on a share of Laurel's property as their divorce takes a bitter turn.

Later in the episode, Jai met with Caleb - who is determined to establish a new venture that will compete with Kim Tate's (Claire King) Home Farm, and the pair clandestinely finalised their business agreement.

"I'm happy with the warehouse investment," Jai assured Caleb, "I need to know where the money is going even if the courts don't."

Caleb then confirmed their deal was legitimate before later advising him: "Keep acting broke."

Emmerdale's Jai has left fans on the edge of their seats after revealing his secret stash to Laurel, prompting a social media frenzy with viewers predicting Caleb will double-cross him and Laurel will discover everything.

One fan posted on Twitter: "Just when I thought Jai had played a blinder with Laurel he does the dumbest trick by investing all his hidden assets with Caleb of all people ooh dear never ends in soapland #emmerdale."

A concerned fan expressed their wish online: "I really hope that Laurel finds a way to turn the tables on Jai the dirty ratbag #Emmerdale".

Meanwhile, another comment read: "Taking advice from Caleb on hiding his cash is 1 thing but having Caleb involved in hiding his money is beyond stupid imo letting a fox into a hen house. #Emmerdale." (sic)
