Kate Garraway in disbelief as Good Morning Britain studio transformed

GMB: Kate Garraway says crew have gone 'crazy'

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway was left gobsmacked as she walked into a studio transformed into a winter wonderland, despite it being the height of summer.

Adil Ray couldn't contain his excitement as he boomed: "Merry Christmas!" upon the show's opening. A flabbergasted Kate stressed that it was far too soon with people still basking in their summer holidays.

With festive tunes filling the air and a Christmas corner complete with trees, cushions, and a fireplace set up, Kate exclaimed: "What?! they've gone crazy!" To which Adil declared: "We are going for it! Come on, we need something to smile about. It's Christmas Eve!"

Kate pointed out Adil's merry mood, suggesting it stemmed from shops around the country already stocking up on Christmas decorations. Footage showed premature festive items popping up in stores, prompting Kate to jest: "It's madness, I mean it's August."

She then humorously admitted the premature celebration had her hankering for a mince pie, pondering aloud to the audience, "It does feel early, doesn't it? Is it just me?"

Kate reminded viewers that other events like Halloween and Bonfire Night were yet to come before the Yuletide season.

The spectacle swiftly sparked a Twitter frenzy as viewers chimed in on when is the right time to start getting jolly, reports the Mirror.

One viewer enthused: "Not at all! Christmas is a time of joy! Goodness knows there's enough misery in the world at the moment, so let's enjoy the things that bring us joy! 'Tis the season to be jolly, after all!"

An eager online shopper chimed in: "Never too early I've just purchased some Christmas presents online this morning for our granddaughters."

Mirroring this sentiment, another fan stated: "Never too early for Christmas."

Nonetheless, a few naysayers expressed dismay. A disgruntled user tweeted: "Noooooooooooooooooooo! Just no! Christmas? I can't take this! @SkyNews here I come! ".

Echoing the frustration, another commented: "Pathetic and unnecessary, more pressure on people to spend what they haven't got.'

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
