All Creatures Great and Small shares first-look at Tristan's return in sweet reunion

All Creatures Great and Small: Tristan shows off his new car

At the end of series three, All Creatures Great and Small viewers were left heartbroken when fan-favourite Tristan Farnon (played by Callum Woodhouse) left the Channel 5 show.

The young vet decided to leave Darrowby to fight in the war, resulting in an unexpected emotional goodbye from his older brother Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West).

However, Tristan is making a return home in the upcoming series as first images reveal him alongside his brother and best friend James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph).

One image shows the cast outside of a church with Helen Herriot (Rachel Shenton) proudly holding her newborn baby, which she gave birth to in the Christmas special.

Now donning a moustache, Tristan can be seen in his full military uniform standing behind James and Helen.

Another person commented: “That's made my day, and what a lovely surprise that Tristan is returning [sic] I can truthfully say #ACGAS is my happy place and I can't wait for the next series.”

Although there’s not been a confirmed start date for the new series, it seems as though it’ll air later in the autumn.

On this exciting Autumn drama slate, Head of Drama and Deputy Chief Content Officer, Sebastian Cardwell says “We’re riding high on drama at Channel 5 and have an upcoming Autumn schedule packed full of new series that our audience can get their teeth stuck into.

“With detective mysteries, gripping dramas, psychological thrillers and an incredible lineup of UK talent to bring the stories to life, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.”
