TM: Sian breaks maternity leave for Molly and Tommy breakup

One of This Morning's stars made an early return from maternity leave in order to cover some "breaking news" during the ITV morning programme.

Sian Welby, who welcomed her little girl Ruby just recently at the end of June 2024, was back in business on Thursday (August 15), appearing over video link to discuss the big news that Love Island icon Molly-Mae Hague has split from Tommy Fury, her fiance.

The duo had been together for half a decade, becoming a celebrity power couple after the arrival of their daughter Bambi. Unfortunately, it's now official that they've decided to part ways, as announced via posts on their respective social media platforms.

This Morning made a rather bold parallel, comparing the break up to "this generation's Charles and Diana", while Sian - with her newborn tucked away in another room - presented the exciting news, radiating a clear enthusiasm as she immersed herself back in work following a short hiatus.

As Josie elucidated: "We've brought Sian in to go through this."

Rylan added a tad humorously: "She's broken her maternity leave to do this breaking story! Sian, first of all, lovely to see you and how is everything?", reports the Manchester Evening News.

Responding, Sian said with joy: "Aww, great to see you all. Everything's so far so good, baby Ruby is sleeping as we sleep so we can get through the segment!"

Earlier in February, she broke the news of her pregnancy, informing fans: "Being serious guys, I've got a bit of an announcement for you... I'm pregnant. The stress I've gone through trying to pretend to be drinking!"

Sian Williams appeared delighted to return to the screen as she read out Molly-Mae Hague's heartfelt statement: "Never in a million years did I think I'd ever have to write this. After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not in this way."

"I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy's relationship has come to an end. I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority."
