Escape to the Country host issues apology to buyers after they're 'blown away' by home

Escape to the Country couple emotional over property

Buyers on the latest episode of BBC property show Escape to the Country were left emotional after falling in love with a property shortly into their search.

During Thursday's edition of the daytime series, Sonail Shah was looking for a countryside home for a retired Essex couple. Alan and wife Tricia were looking to swap their busy life in Basildon for Staffordshire. The couple, who have been married for 27 years and had a budget of £550k, were looking to downsize since both their children moved out.

They were hoping for a detached and traditional home that had at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms for when their children come to visit.

They weren't keen on having a big garden as Alan revealed that they are not big on gardening but they still wanted some outside space and a garage for Tricia's sports car.

Sonali set up several property viewings and ensured that it had all the features the couple were looking for; however it was one that left them feeling emotional, reports WalesOnline.

The home was located in the village of Abbots Bromley. The character cottage had four bedrooms and a low maintenance garden. It was priced at £525,000, which was 25,000 under budget.

At first Sonali wasn't sure that they would like the property but she was wrong, she said: "I was a bit worried that the character would be a little bit too much for them but actually they are really seeing the beauty in it."

Alan and Tricia were blown away at the property, Sonali asked: "Could you move straight in?" Alan jumped in: "Yeah. We've already placed our furniture." Tricia added: "I'm getting emosh now." Sonali added: "We might have found the one."

The couple went on to explore the rest of the home by themselves and it only got better and the search continued. Tricia went on to say: "It's beautiful. I couldn't have picked anything better than this myself and I could see us living here." She added: "I'm going to cry. Oh dear, Emotions."

While looking around Sonali was forced to step in as it was time to look at other properties, she said: "I'm sorry to tear you away, let's go."

Despite falling in love with the property it was the mystery house in the hamlet of Admaston that the couple decided to go with. At the end of the show Sonail revealed that their offer was accepted.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One
