Escape to the Country's Sonali Shah has been gracing our television screens for years. The 44-year-old was brought up in Edgware, London, by her parents who emigrated from India, along with her younger brother Amal.

Sonali navigated her early education at Longfield First and Middle School, then Whitmore High School in Harrow, before studying broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University.

Her career took off at the BBC World Service in 2002 as a producer, and she quickly became a familiar voice on The World Today and World Business Report. Her presenting skills shone through on Newsround, Steph's Packed Lunch, and BBC's Pilgrimage, not to mention her sports coverage which included the 2011 Cricket World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

Sonali even dazzled audiences on Strictly Come Dancing. Since 2014, Sonali has become synonymous with Escape to the Country and its spin-offs, Escape to the Perfect Town and I Escaped to the Country.

Despite her public persona, Sonali leads a private family life.

Despite being a private individual outside of her TV career, Sonali Shah is currently married to Adarsh Shah. The couple have been together for at least 14 years, having tied the knot in 2008.

Sonali opened up to Express.co.uk about the two stunning dresses she wore on her big day, stating, "I spent two weeks in Mumbai and designed them myself. Saris are the closest things I have to couture."

She and her husband Adarsh are the proud parents of two children, with Ariana arriving in 2013 and son Rafi joining the family in 2016.

The family has made London their home and cherishes a close connection with Adarsh's side of the family.

Although Sonali generally keeps her family out of the social media spotlight, she did once post a throwback photo with her daughter Ariana as a baby. In a chat with Baby Magazine, Sonali described motherhood as a "rollercoaster".

Like many parents, Sonali used a familiar metaphor for parenting, saying, "I know it's a cliche expression but life as a mum is the ultimate rollercoaster especially because I'm a working mum."

Grateful for the extended family support, she added that both families were a great help. Sonali appreciated, "Ariana loves spending time at their houses and sleeping over, which makes my life easier when I'm away filming away for Escape to the Country."

Capping off her thoughts with heartfelt gratitude, she said, "I honestly don't know how I would cope without my brilliant mother and mother-in-law."
