Woman arrested for suspected animal abuse

Police on Thursday said they had arrested a 41-year-old woman for alleged animal abuse after finding a dead cat in her flat. Officers received a report at around 12am complaining of a foul smell at a flat in Fu Shin Estate in Tai Po. They said they found 33 cats and one dog inside the unit, with five of the felines in poor health and one already dead. The animals were taken away for further examination and care. The woman is currently in custody.
