Young girl dies after struck by tram, two others hurt

A three-year-old girl has died after being struck by a tram and getting trapped beneath it in Western District. The accident, which happened outside the Kennedy Town Swimming Pool on Thursday, also saw two others injured. Emergency personnel were called to the scene after a report at around 10.44am that the trio, a man and two young girls aged three and six, had been knocked down by the tram. Police said the three-year-old was unconscious as she was rescued from underneath the vehicle. She was later pronounced dead. The man and the elder girl were also taken to hospital for treatment. Tram services between Kennedy Town Terminus and Hill Road were temporarily suspended following the incident.
