ITV EastEnders fans 'overjoyed' as fan-favourite returns with chilling threat for Reiss

EastEnders: Brenda issues a warning

EastEnders fans witnessed the turbulent return of Debbie Colwell's parents on Wednesday (August 14) and it wasn't a joyous occasion. Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell's engagement dinner with their relatives erupted into chaos when Brenda and Hugh Collins were appalled to find pregnant Sonia adorned with an engagement ring that once belonged to their comatose daughter.

Fans of the BBC soap will know that aside from suffering a debilitating stroke, Debbie had been murdered by Reiss, who was under financial pressure due to the impending arrival of his child with Sonia.

A distraught Brenda confronted Reiss over the ring and asked: "What did you do, nip it off her finger in the mortuary?"

He admitted to having harboured affection for Debbie all along and, unable to contain her heartbreak and disdain, Brenda lashed out: "So in love that she's not even cold in the ground and you've emptied her bank account and you're getting engaged. What sort of monster are you?"

Reiss hurried to deflect the burgeoning conflict away from the curious ears of Lauren, Martin, Jack, Amy, and Ricky but only fuelled Brenda's rage further, reports the Daily Star.

As Brenda accused Reiss of marrying another woman while pilfering their deceased daughter's funds, Sonia inadvertently divulged Reiss's desperate financial troubles.

She told Brenda: "It's not like that, Reiss has been in a bit of a mess financially but he's going to pay it all back once the life insurance comes through."

Brenda was seething with anger as she declared that Sonia and Reiss wouldn't see a penny of Debbie's life insurance money.

She even went as far as threatening to go to the police, despite Reiss's attempts to persuade her she had "got it all wrong".

In a fierce comeback, Brenda hurled a brutal insult at Reiss, saying: "You're a money-grabbing leech."

She also made it clear she intends to take legal action, which could mean serious trouble for the pair.
