Supacell fans issue demands to improve the show as Netflix hit renewed for season two

Supacell fans have been responding to the exciting news that the hit Netflix thriller will be returning for season two.

The drama follows South Londoner Michael Lasaki (played by Tosin Cole) who unexpectedly develops superpowers.

After uniting with four more Black individuals with special abilities, united by a family history of sickle cell disease, they try to unlock the mystery while battling a secret organisation.

Season one received strong reviews from fans and ended with a devastating cliffhanger, so it’s no surprise that Netflix wants to continue the saga.

However, many viewers felt there was still room for improvement in a follow-up and have taken to the forums with some ideas.

High on the list was Supacell’s visual effects, which many agreed didn’t quite stand up to modern blockbuster fare.

“Season 1 was alright but you could see the budget with all the effects,” someone on Reddit commented. “Hopefully they have a higher budget this time and get better effect quality.”

Although, another viewer was concerned a higher budget wouldn’t necessarily lead to a better-quality season.

“They will guaranteed have a higher budget, but will that result in better effects?” they replied.

“Maybe. That also makes it more likely to be cancelled after season 2, however. Unless it gets absolutely earth-shattering views. You know how Netflix do.”

Another fan wanted more communication between the characters after getting frustrated with a particular trend in season one.

“Main character annoyed the hell out of me. JUST TALK TO YOUR LADY! WTF!” they said.

While a different fan is excited to see Supacell hopefully fulfil its potential after everything was established in the first outing.

“This is good. Loved season 1 but it was 99% character introductions and set ups for season 2,” they wrote.

The excitement didn’t stop over on Twitter, with one ecstatic fan even suggesting season two should have more than double the amount of episodes to take Supacell’s story even further.

“Yeessssss I CANNOT WAIT!!! Season 2 needs to have 20 episodes!!!” they said, tagging creator Rapman in the hope he’s taking notes.

“Yes lets go. And make it longer as well,” another fan echoed the demand.

Given Supacell’s first season comprised just six episodes, fans are understandably keeping their fingers crossed for a longer run next time around to do the story justice.

Supacell is available to stream on Netflix. Season 2's release date is yet to be confirmed.
