Death In Paradise’s DS Madeleine Dumas was a fan-favourite but why did actress Aude Legastelois make her exit?

Every few years the cast of the iconic BBC cosy drama has a revamp with DI Jack Mooney (played by Ardal O’Hanlon) as its third ever detective.

The chirpy Irishman couldn’t have solved some of the more complex investigations without the help of his team, including French officer DS Madeleine Dumas.

She was his right-hand woman throughout the eighth season but then when it came to series nine, Madeleine decided to leave Saint Marie behind after getting a promotion back in her beloved Paris.

Where is Death in Paradise's Madeleine Dumas star now?

Since leaving Death In Paradise behind, actress Aude Legastelois has only taken on a few minor roles in French projects including Les petits meutres d’Agatha Christie and Le Code in 2023.

But according to her IMDb profile, Le Code was the last film or TV show that Legastelois was working on with nothing else listed in the works.

Going by her Instagram page though, the star has now adopted a very different way of life living on an unknown island, potentially somewhere in the Caribbean.

In her bio, Aude says that she is on a “journey of consciousness” and uses the “start with the body method”.

Nowhere does it mention that she is an actress but rather that she works as a “body, emotions, mind awareness coach”.

She regularly shares beach selfies and positive message posts with no talk of whether or not she’s got anything in the pipeline on the big or small screen.

Aude also doesn’t give any indication if she is in a relationship, purely focusing on her new career as a wellbeing coach.

She does hint at leaving her old life behind though in a July post of her sitting by a waterfall with the caption “Chosen life”.
