Oliver Farnworth says 'there's a lot to come' on Emmerdale

Emmerdale viewers believe they've uncovered the true intentions of newcomer John Sugden in the popular ITV soap. The character, played Oliver Farnworth, was initially introduced as Aaron Dingle's latest romantic interest.

The pair had arranged a date, but unexpectedly met at the roadside when John's car broke down. After Aaron fixed the vehicle, the two shared a passionate kiss that quickly led to a roadside tryst, only for John to abruptly depart, taking with him Aaron's possessions and Eric Pollard's car keys.

In Thursday's episode (August 8), Victoria Sugden accidently upset John at his mother's funeral, only to be shocked to discover his surname was Sugden. Eric later awkwardly revealed that John could potentially be her half-brother and the son of her late father, Jack Sugden.

Since this revelation, Victoria has been eager to connect with her newly discovered sibling, while Aaron is furious to see John in the village, particularly after finding out he is related to his ex-husband Robert Sugden.

In Friday's episode, Aaron confronted John about his motives, leading John to warn him to back off and demand that his car be repaired immediately by Aaron and Mackenzie Boyd, reports the Mirror.

John's aloof behaviour in Emmerdale has sparked a frenzy among viewers, with fans speculating wildly on X, formerly known as Twitter, about his true motives. Is he in cahoots with Caleb Milligan or eyeing Victoria's inheritance?

One fan speculated: "Could be in with Caleb x", while another suggested: "#Emmerdale will Victoria change her tune with John if he starts with the whole 'where's my inheritance half sister'."

Theories abound, with one viewer asserting: "John definitely has an agenda #Emmerdale", and another predicting a darker turn: "I think John Sugden could be the next murderer... #Emmerdale."

The plot thickens as Oliver, the actor playing newcomer John, hinted at a tumultuous storyline ahead during his appearance on Lorraine's Thursday episode.

He teased: "His opening gambit is pretty strong from last night's episode and then as we can see from the clip today we find out a lot about him quite early on."

Oliver also alluded to John's mysterious nature: "But there's a really enigmatic side to him as well. I've been filming for two months now and there's a lot of stuff I can't talk about but really that is the tip of the iceberg because it's an absolute rollercoaster", before excitingly adding: "There's a lot to come, there's a lot to come!"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
