Channel 4's Sunday Brunch interrupted after Will Young swears live on air

Sunday Brunch halted after guest swears live on air

Channel 4's Sunday Brunch was halted after a guest swore live on air.

The weekly show returned for another episode on Sunday (August 11) with hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy joined in the studio by several celebrity guests.

The duo were accompanied by YouTuber Max Fosh, JLS star Aston Merrigold, singer Will Young and comedians Helen Lederer and Alex Horne.

Former Pop Idol winner Young was recounting an awkward moment at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival when he let a bad word slip.

He was telling the story of how a comedian at Edinburgh Fringe had 'stopped' her show after she found him sitting in the front row.

He told viewers: "The bulk of her show was about me, and obviously probably not very nice about me, and I was in the front row.

"She said 'I don't know what to do because my show's sort of taking the p*** out of Will Young and Will Young's sitting at the front."

Host Lovejoy was then made to pause the show, jumping in to issue an apology to viewers. He said: "I must apologise for using that word."

Young quickly apologised himself, saying: "Oh sorry, I'm so sorry! Is that a bad word? Was it? I'm so sorry." Young and the rest of the guests couldn't help but laugh.

Young then joked that he should know better as it was his sixth time appearing on the show. Young then revealed what had happened after the comedian revealed her show was all about him.

"Well did she do the material or not?" Lovejoy asked the star. "No she didn't," Young revealed.

"She kind of stopped the show. I'm not joking. She did about 20 minutes and then that was it. It was so bizarre, very awkward."

Guests barely even noticed the swearing though, with one writing on X, formerly Twitter: "I missed what he said. I guess it was sweary? #sundaybrunch".
