Amy Dowden gives update on her hair growth

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden was all smiles as she celebrated her birthday with her twin sister. The professional dancer took to Instagram to share some snaps with her rarely seen fraternal twin Becky.

The pair turned 34 and Amy posted a sweet tribute to her sibling early in the day. She shared a picture of the pair of them taken during their older brother's wedding celebrations in May last year to her Instagram stories.

"Happy birthday to my beautiful twin sister. Let's celerate together our way," she write on it making sure to tag Becky.

For her part Becky took to her stories to share a montage of photos of the paire throughout the years. Happy birthday to my bestie literally since day one," she wrote. "So grateful to be able to spend this one together."

She cheekily added: "Based on our baby photos there is no surprise which one of us became a dancing star."

The pair then later got together with friends including Amy's Strictly co-star Carlos Gu, to celebrate the occassion with an outdoor party at home.

Amy posted an image to her Instagram stories of the two of them smiling broadly as they clutched cocktails.

This year's celelbrations are all the sweeter for Amy as they come just over a year after she was diagnosed with breast cancer which forced her to sit out the last season of Strictly Come Dancing.

The dancer discovered her first lump in April 2023 - just a day before she was due to fly on her honeymoon to the Maldives with new husband Ben.

She said that the lump was "life-changing" and "never thought" she would have recieved a cancer diagnosis.

Speaking in a documentary about her health journey, she said: "It was an exciting new chapter in my life, but finding a lump on my breast changed my life.

"I never thought at my age I would get cancer and, despite having family members and friends who were cancer survivors, had no idea just what the impact on my life would be. I’ve learnt so much about myself and what a cancer diagnosis means on this journey."

Speaking about her treatment on Coppafeel's Instagram chat with Erin Kennedy. Amy said: "I was originally going to have a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment."

"But then, after my MRI, they found another tumour so then it changed into a mastectomy and then, after my mastectomy, unfortunately, they found even more tumours. After my mastectomy, unfortunately they found even more tumours. Then they found another type of cancer."

However, doctors told Amy that with chemo she had "a really good chance of a cure". In February of this year the performer finally had a positive update, when she shared that "no evidence of disease" was found during her latest health check.
