Miriam Margolyes' heartbreaking health admission as she shares 'scary' experience on BBC
Miriam Margolyes issued a sad health update in the opening moments of her new BBC travel show, Miriam Margolyes: A New Australian Adventure.
On tonight's episode (August 9) which aired at 9pm on BBC Two, the 83-year-old star headed to Australia's Byron Bay to learn more about the area's popularity with celebrities and influencers.
But before boarding the plane, she shared how she had endured a "scary" heart procedure in London. In a heart-breaking moment, she confessed to how the procedure had changed her, and resulted in a "new Miriam."
"It's wonderful to be moving again," she shared with viewers. In an emotional voiceover, she continued:"I'm going to have to learn how to deal with the new Miriam," as footage showed her swimming in a pool.
Fans of the star will know she has struggled with her health in recent years. She underwent her transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in October, which allowed her to avoid more invasive open-heart surgery.

The Harry Potter actor also suffers from spinal stenosis, a condition where the space inside the spine is too small. This can result in sufferers needing a wheelchair.
Miriam has also revealed that she is "registered disabled" and finds walking difficult. While she didn't go into great detail regarding the specifics of her condition, she did say that she "had an opportunity now to tackle life again. And I've got to use it."
Elsewhere in the episode, Miriam met star of Netflix reality show Byron Baes, Jade Kevin Foster. However within the first 10 minutes of the show airing, the pair got off to a tense start.
As Jade approached Miriam, he asked whether she liked his outfit. "Hi gorg, welcome to Byron doll," he started. "Do you like my outfit?".
Miriam, perched on a bench wearing a sunhat swiftly replied: "Not much," prompting an awkward silence to erupt between the pair.
