In the upcoming episodes of EastEnders, Johnny Carter is poised to take control as Linda Carter battles with her sobriety.

Kellie Bright's character, the Queen Vic landlady, is currently being plagued by anonymous threatening letters while Dean Wicks (played by Matt Di Angelo) is incarcerated for the murder of Keanu Taylor (portrayed by Danny Walters) during the festive season.

The person behind the letters was unveiled as Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) on Thursday (August 8), who has been conspiring with Dean to coerce Linda into withdrawing her statement, leaving her petrified.

Linda's distress escalates next week when her struggle with alcoholism spirals out of control, putting her in a precarious situation.

On Monday (August 12), Linda's pre-trial meeting arrives but she's struggling with her sobriety in the wake of more poison pen letters.

Meanwhile, at the prison, Bernie visits villainous Dean in prison where he demands that Bernie ups the ante with the letters to put pressure on Linda, so she starts sending texts too.

Linda is left rattled but soon realises whoever is sending the threats has her mobile number and tells her son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) she’s not going to attend the meeting.

In a desperate bid to calm Linda enough to get her there, Johnny takes matters into his own hands, but how will get his terrified mum through her court meeting?

A prosecutor called Tamara soon starts quizzing tipsy Linda, but what will she say?

The next day, Linda has been drinking all night and Johnny is at a loss of how to help her.

Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) tells him to use his legal skills to help his mum and she’ll look after Linda.
