For their 22nd anniversary three years ago, Nicki expressed her love for both Dave and her garden in a heartfelt post: "We married two days after his birthday so neither of us can ever forget the date!!

"Sizzling hot day at Syon House. Best day of my life. Feels just like yesterday. [Photo] taken on Wednesday night. His birthday celebration and an England win. Peeps normally post romantic pics from exotic locations. We've gone for our back garden in West London."

The esteemed BBC Radio 2 host has largely kept her personal life out of the public eye, but in a rare moment of openness, she disclosed her ordeal with a 'golf ball-sized' benign brain tumour removed back in 2019. The resilient broadcaster thanked her husband for his support throughout her health scare.

On why Nicki went public with her illness, she said: "I decided to speak out after my operation as I felt not only had I received the best care I could have asked for from my local hospital and the NHS, but also that my story may help others going through something similar," she shared.

Famed for presenting property shows, Nicki Chapman's London abode in Chiswick is every bit the sanctuary you'd expect. She lovingly speaks of her home as her 'oasis,' having recently transformed her garden into a serene remote-working haven.

Her contemporary kitchen, complete with television, sky lights, and a grand dining table, fits ten peopleNicki praises it as "a beautiful open, spacious communal area" perfect for gatherings.

She's always got a home improvement project on the go, from giving the hallway a fresh lick of paint to planting vibrant hydrangeas outside.

Speaking to House Beautiful Magazine last year, she divulged her need for a serene and cosy space to unwind after a hectic day at work. "I love my house, but it's also a home. It's not a showpiece," she expressed.

Nicki treasures her bespoke paintings by Sheffield artist Pete McKee, which take pride of place on her walls. "He did some personalised pictures of my husband and I, and they're probably my most treasured possessions at home," she revealed.

Her home's most intriguing feature?

A 'panic room' that's actually a large wooden chest with hidden storage. "We've got bird food, cushions and blankets inside. I call it the panic room because if anything ever happened, we would dive into it," she described.

Despite the opulent appearance of her abode, Nicki opts for "middle-range carpet" as a practical choice. She reasons that "the cheapest carpet is not going to last you and you'll probably get bored with the most expensive one".

Her home exudes effortless elegance, adorned with white furniture, wood features, and splashes of colour from rugs and cushions, complemented by gold and green walls. The garden boasts lush shrubbery, a chic terraced area, and inviting outdoor sofas.

Nicki revealed on her Instagram the significant role her garden plays in her life, saying: "This small but beautiful garden has helped keep me happy over the past 13 years, more than ever in 2020."

She continued to express her pride and affection for her green haven: "Proudest moment was when we were able to film in it for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. I gave myself a gold medal. It's my escape, my sanctuary, my special place."
