GMB's Kate Garraway left red-faced as she's corrected by guest mid-interview

GMB: Josh Kerr corrects Kate Garraway over false information

Josh Kerr, the British middle-distance runner, made an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Friday, just days after clinching a silver medal in the Men's 1500m at the Paris Olympics. Despite narrowly missing out on gold to USA's Cole Hocker, Josh was over the moon to improve upon his previous bronze.

During his interview with hosts Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder, he discussed his Olympic experience when Kate mentioned she'd heard he prefers not having his family at races due to the added pressure. However, it turned out to be a mix-up, and Josh was quick to set the record straight.

Kate questioned: "I know you generally - well you've been reported as saying this, you might tell me different - you generally are not sure about having your mum and dad there when you race as it almost throws you a little bit. You know they're supporting you but it puts an extra pressure. They were there (in Paris) and I believe you didn't know they were there until afterwards. Is that right?"

To which a puzzled Josh responded: "Not too sure where that info's come from but I love it when the family's there, I live for that kind of pressure, you know they've been there throughout my whole career in the stands cheering me on and it means the world to me to have the people that got me there to be in the stands.

"And I think I realised reasonably quickly when I was talking the big game of going after an Olympic gold medal people were like 'oh ok we can just buy tickets and sit in the stadium and watch you' so I had a good amount of support there," reports the Mirror.

Earlier in the programme, viewers were threatening to 'switch off', exasperated by the focus given to Katie Price's arrest drama. The celebrity, a mother-of-five, had failed to show up for her court date last month.

However, audiences said the coverage of this incident overshadowed the scant attention paid to Ricky Jones. News has emerged from Scotland Yard about the detention of a man in his fifties on serious allegations including incitement to murder and breaching of the Public Order Act.

Furore ensued after Labour councillor Ricky Jones was caught on film advocating violence against far-Right protesters by suggesting their throats should be cut. As soon as the video surfaced, the Labour Party quickly relieved Mr Jones of his political responsibilities.

GMB is on ITV weekdays at 6am
