Strictly's Jamie Borthwick's co-star 'so proud' as he gives verdict on how he'll perform

Max Bowden on how he thinks Jamie Borthwick will do on Strictly

Jamie Borthwick became the tenth celebrity to be confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing after taking part in the Christmas special last year. The EastEnders actor who is best known as Jay Brown in the BBC soap said it was an "easy yes" when asked to return.

He explained: "This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say. I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom. See you on the dancefloor!”

Speaking on Friday's Good Morning Britain, his former EastEnders co-star Max Bowden give his verdict on how the actor will do in the competition.

Host Rob Rinder began: "I'm not a betting man but how do you reckon he's going to do?"

"Well I spoke to him about eight minutes ago and I think he's nervous but he's very, very excited," Max shared. "But he's a very good mover."

Kate asked: "Have you been somewhere like a club or wedding or something where you've danced together?"

The actor explained: "He's just dances all the time, he's a music fanatic so as soon as he hears a song, he breaks into some sort of routine. I think he's going to do really well and I'm very proud of him."

Jamie has a good shot at winning this year's Strictly after winning the Christmas special but before he was announced, bookmakers had Shayne Ward and JB Gill as joint favourites to win the Glitterball Trophy.

The former X Factor winner shares favouritism with the JLS star with odds of 4/1 apiece. Tasha Ghouri is rated as a 6/1 chance while Tom Dean (8/1) and Pete Wicks (10/1) follow next in line. Jessica O'Reilly of Ladbrokes said: "Naturally, Shayne's goal is to lift the glitterball trophy and it looks like it's already a two-horse race between the former X Factor stars for glory."
