BBC Breakfast fans were less than impressed this morning as they accused the show of making Katie Price their "priority". Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt presented today's episode (August 9) of the BBC show, as they discussed the latest headlines of the day.

While many stories were featured, including the UK riots and the 2024 Olympics over in Paris, it was the coverage of one main story that angered fans. The presenters addressed former glamour model Katie Price being arrested last night, after failing to attend court last month as she continues her bankruptcy battle.

The TV personality was declared bankrupt in 2019 as well as in March due to an outstanding tax bill of £750,000. She was due to appear at a bankruptcy court in London on July 30 and had been warned that failure to attend could result in her arrest - But she was nowhere to be seen on the day.

As the BBC Breakfast presenters discussed the matter, fans were furious. They headed over to social media, mainly X (formerly Twitter) to share their angry thoughts.

One user complained: "Thanks for giving us a several minute update of the doings of porn star Katie Price, giving it priority over the US presidential election. Are there any other pornstars you can keep us notified of? Makes a change from endless charity runs. #bbcbreakfast."

Another penned: "#BBCBreakfast is obsessed with Katie Price. #r4today", while a third seemed bored of the topic as they wrote: "Katie Price," followed by a number of yawning emojis.

One viewer complained that standards were slipping, as they posted: "Why does the BBC consider this important news? One more example of BBC standards going down the toilet."

Another asked: "A lot of people get arrested everyday and we don't get to hear them so why is this important?"

The Metropolitan Police confirmed Katie's arrest at Heathrow Airpoty last night, as she returned to the UK from Turkey. Recently, the mum-of-five was seen in Turkey with bandages on her face, leading to speculation that she had travelled there for surgery.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed to Express.co.uk: "A 46-year-old woman from Surrey was arrested at Heathrow Airport at 19:45hrs on Thursday, 8 August for failing to appear at court.

"She has been remanded in custody at a west London police station to appear at the Royal Courts of Justice tomorrow, Friday, 9 August."
