UK riots: Crime and policing commentator says 'tide has turned'

GB News fans took to social media with rage after they reported on the policing of violent protestors, in the wake of the riots across the UK.

Following the tragic Southports stabbings last week, an outbreak of disorder broke out across the nation after false reports that the suspect, Axel Rudakubana had connections to Islam.

As a result, mosques and hotels where asylum seekers were housed were targeted, as well as the looting of high street shops and attacks on police officers.

Police have since cracked down on the rioters after reviewing video footage and according to the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), 483 people have been arrested so far.

This was addressed on GB News Breakfast as presenters Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello welcomed Crime and policing commentator, Danny Shaw but some viewers quickly switched off the discussion.

Stephen remarked: “There’s concern on both sides and the pressures being put on the police to sort it out, which is easier said than done.”

Danny responded: “Well it feels as though, although fingers are still crossed, that the tide is turned a little bit because the criminal justice machine has finally cranked into gear.

“Police have got on to the streets on Wednesday night in big numbers, certainly were mobilised in bigger numbers.”

He continued: “But the key thing it feels to me, is that the courts have been sitting and dispensing justice really swiftly with some stiff prison sentences.

A fuming @wearebetrayed commented: “What a load of utter sh**e. Far-right are imaginary.”

@dennisboy72 added: “Absolutely agree. Have just had to turn off this morning!”

@Eddiedragon2 claimed: “Absolute rubbish. Make up a threat that was never going to happen. Then claims success when nothing happened.” As @FJEB88 penned: “No, it feels like we are living in a dystopian far-left state trying to control our thoughts.”
