ITV 1% Club's Lee Mack calls contestant 'greedy sod' after huge money admission

The 1% Club: Lee Mack brands contestant 'greedy sod'

Lee Mack was unable to hide his astonishment as a contestant on The 1% Club made a startling financial admission. The ITV game show sees 100 players hoping to win a £100,000 prize for facing questions based on "logic and common sense" rather than general knowledge.

However, when Lee discovered one player was already a millionaire he labelled them a "greedy sod".

In a recently aired episode, which was a repeat, the host was having his usual banter with the unlucky few who had failed to answer the first question correctly, meaning they were already out of the running.

"Are you usually unlucky?" he questioned one eliminated player called Kevin Jones. "I’ve been very lucky in the past," he explained.

A curious Lee enquired: "In what respect?" but clearly wasn't expecting the response he got. "I won the lottery," Kevin replied. "I won six million," he revealed to cheers and claps from some people.

"Six million quid!" an astonished Lee exclaimed as Kevin clarified he had actually won £6.1 million.

"[You wanted] another 100 grand. You greedy sod!" Lee quipped.

"I wanted to come on here for the challenge, but sadly I’ve not done very well," Kevin admitted resignedly to laughter from those in the studio.

"It seems weirdly fitting that you’ve gone out in the first question," Lee responded before returning to the game.

Former bus driver Kevin's huge lottery win came in 2016 and at the time he revealed his family had previously lost everything in a double burglary.

“Several years ago we had nothing. We were living in Spain and suffered two break-ins over one weekend and lost everything. Michelle was so frightened we just drove back to England straight away and had to start all over again.”

He went on to describe how he was working 12-hour shifts at the time to make ends meet.

“It is just amazing that this has happened. To think we had nothing and were working around the clock and now we have this. We really can now start to live the life of our dreams - something we never believed would happen to us.”
