Bargain Hunt: Mark Stacey's Bonus Buy makes a £75 loss

Mark Stacey is a Welsh auctioneer and valuer who makes regular appearances as an antiques expert on shows like Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip. He moved to London and worked for a couple of auction houses, working his way up to the head of Decorative Arts.

In 2011 he opened an antiques shop in Brighton and later in 2014 became an auctioneer and valuer with Reeman Dansie Auctioneers in Colchester, Essex. He worked as a residential social worker before entering the antiques trade.

Outside of work, he has one brother and two sisters and is a talented organist, occasionally playing at his local Methodist church. The auctioneer was born on September 23, 1964, making him 59 years old.

This year marks a milestone for the presenter as he is gearing up to celebrate his 60th birthday. He admitted he is fairly busy so there may not be much time for partying.

In a previous BBC interview, he said: "I don't have much spare time - antiques and finding treasures takes up most of my time. I do enjoy relaxing with close friends, a glass of red wine. Watching the world go by is bliss!"

He explained he had always been a collector, which led him to his career in antiques.

"As a child it was stamps and coins, and later, rummaging around lots of markets" he explained.

"I started collecting small silver and works of art so I think antiques chose me, and my hobby turned into a way of life, which is full of ups and downs."

He became involved with Bargain Hunt in 2002 as after seeing an advertisement in the Antiques Trade Gazette, he was selected for a screen test.

His very first Bargain Hunt episode was a BBC Children in Need celebrity special with a live auction, which he admitted was "very scary".

Back in 2023, he was inundated with support after sharing a photo from hospital, having undergone surgery to have a bowel cancer tumour removed.

Mark wrote: "Thanks to Lincoln Country Hospital, had a bowel cancer tumour removed to robotics on Thursday, this pic on Friday morning.

"Our NHS is amazing, we must protect it."
