Bargain Hunt's Ben Cooper admits 'it can be a disaster' as he opens up on BBC show
Bargain Hunt's Ben Cooper has shed light on what it's like to be on the iconic BBC show and revealed that it can sometimes be a "disaster".
Ben opened up about the popular antique-hunting series during a recent episode (August 8th) of the Namaste Motherf*****s podcast with Cally Beaton.

Ben said: “What I do think with my teams…I like them to have ownership over what they buy so then sometimes, it can be a bit of a disaster.
"And I'm looking going, 'Oh, this is going to go very wrong', but I think, you know, it’s their five minutes of fame to go and have a look at stuff. My bonus buy record is quite good."

The antique expert said it can be a “bit of a disaster” (Image: BBC)He continued: “You’ve got to have a bit of ownership and so long as, you know, at the end of the day, everybody enjoys their day because they’re long days when we’re doing the filming.”
Ben went on to say it’s "good fun" and his teams are generally quite happy. However, he also revealed that his colleagues can be quite competitive and it's the "ones you don't expect".
He revealed that co-host Kate Bliss, who he adores but is "often" put up against, is "so competitive". Ben even offered listeners an amusing anecdote to help them understand their work dynamic.
Ben said: "I said, Oh God. Here we go. Another four losses. I'm gonna be against Kate again, and Kate goes, 'Oh, don't be like that; don't be like that, but look; I've just found a Faberge egg and it was only £2.50'. And she'll make around about three and a half thousand."

It appears that Ben is pretty open when it comes to the world of antique hunting, having opened up about his "embarrassing" losses at auction back in 2022.
He told the BBC: “Within Bargain Hunt, I have made many losses and fewer profits!" He then explained: “Most surprising profit was a deck chair but financially it was The Charles Horner Brooch."
Ben said the brooch scooped a respectable £100, making it his “best ever find” on the show at the time. When it came to revealing his losses, however, the expert claimed he "never" remembers "those figures".
