Strictly It Takes Two Janette Manrara's three word admission as baby daughter falls ill

Janette Manrara makes daughter Lyra giggle in cute video

Strictly Come Dancing: It takes Two presenter Janette Manrara has admitted "parenting is hard" after her baby daughter Lyra became ill recently. While she didn't disclose what was wrong with the tot, she did confess her own "emotions were all over the place" because of it.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a cute video playing on the sofa with her now-recovered giggling daughter to her 600,000 followers. Stylish black and white photos of her and husband Aljaž Škorjanec, who recently returned to the pro line-up on Strictly Come Dancing, could be seen on the wall behind them.

Captioning the clip she wrote: "Lyra has been really unwell the last few days and after a doctor’s visit and antibiotics, she is now finally on the mend. It has been tough for me dealing with her being so sick for the first time and on my own.

"I wanted to make her better straight away and I just couldn’t. She was just so uncomfortable no matter what I did to help. Then add the usual exhaustion of parenting on top of that… my emotions were all over the place.

"It’s important to talk about those tougher moments in life. We ALL go through them no matter what we post on here," she insisted. "And don’t get me wrong I know that this is nothing compared to what other parents may be going through, but all of our feelings are important, no matter the situation.

"Talking to a friend that called to tell me 'you got this', finally getting Lyra to smile, and the cuddles that were endless (she’s asleep on me now as I write this) in the midst of her being so ill and of me feeling the way I did…. these little things helped," she continued.

"Parenting is hard and there are so many ups and downs, so…. to all of the parents out there who are having tough days…. YOU GOT THIS! Phone a friend, breathe, think of their smile, remember the days are long but the years are short.

"You’re doing an amazing job and loving them deeply," she concluded.

Her followers appreciated her candour and took to the comments to praise the 40-year-old's parenting.

@rob_c_47 told her: "You definitely have got this!! Thank you for sharing your parenting journey with us!!"@boykinspaniel reassurd: "You are incredible parents. She is a lucky little lady."@kourtzyclaire acknowledged: "It's so hard everyday is a struggle parenting for every parent then when I look at my children sleeping in their beds their little faces it's soon all forgotten. Keep smiling & talking."

@janey__j chimed in: "We are always learning as a parent. There are no rules. It’s more difficult when your own parents & family do not live nearby ( I should know,my husband was in the military) Aways seek medical advice if you’re ever worried about your daughter. Mums often feel that they’re wasting the Drs time but trust me its the reassurance that you want ( retired practice nurse speaking) You’re doing great with a happy little girl."

Meanwhile @ross_rosemary commented: "Parenting is hard, but when the children are ill it's doubly hard. Well done for getting through this. One awesome mamma."
