Olympics: Team GB's eventing stars 'relieved' after winning gold

BBC viewers have taken to social media to complain about Team GB's kit. Every Olympics, different countries take the opportunity to champion national pride by enlisting a local designer to create their uniforms.

For Paris 2024, the kit was designed by Adidas and they will continue their partnership until the 2032 Olympic Games. Boasting the red, white and blue of the Union Jack, the uniform "celebrates the unique aspects of Great Britain".

However, not everyone is a fan. Now that the Olympic Games are officially underway in Paris, a number of viewers have had their say on the design.

One person moaned online: "What is with that GB kit tho? Horrible #Olympics." A second person also chimed in: "I see Team GB are going for the most boring kit design of the Olympics! Very in brand with modern Adidas. Bring back the 1988 Olympic design I say."

A third person also commented: "Yeah, not super keen on the Team GB outfits for this. #Olympics #OpeningCeremony."

A fourth also similarly wrote: "The Team GB kits this year are absolutely dreadful #OlympicGames," as a fifth said: "So we've not bothered to design proper kits for the athletes to wear this time then. Slap a black (?) Union Jack on a pale blue mac."

On the other hand, one person loved the uniform and said: "The Great Britain #OpeningCeremony kit is beautiful. @TeamGB if you've got any spares lying around you want to get rid of you're welcome to send me one. DM me for my address."

In other news during the Olympics, there were remarkable scenes when a sports event came to a standstill twice. The men's skiff medal race, featuring Team GB, was already underway when it was suddenly stopped by organisers.

This was because of a sudden and dramatic shift in the wind's direction. This meant a swift restart, but then organisers stopped the event again because of a lack of wind.

The race is potentially rescheduled for Friday. BBC sailing commentator Niall Myant expressed his astonishment at the development, saying: "I have never seen that in a medal race at the Olympic level.

"I can only imagine it's because the breeze has drifted so dramatically, the committee have decided it's unfair so they've abandoned the race. Quite the moment. That would have been a really hard decision."
