GMB viewers complain 'I'm eating my breakfast' as they fume over segment

Good Morning Britain fans were up in arms, as a debate over the controversial topic of driving in flip-flops took centre stage on the show.

Thursday's episode saw presenters Ranvir Singh and Ed Balls engage viewers with the burning issue of unsuitable footwear whilst driving. They prefaced an incoming debate by showcasing GMB's weatherman Alex Beresford, who gave a live demonstration of pedal control in flip-flops using an ersatz car setup.

The stunt, intended to shed light on the potential perils of flip-flop driving, instead sparked an outrage among viewers with some seemingly tired of both the sight of Alex's bare feet and the repetition of the topic since it was also aired the previous day.

Dismayed fans soon took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their exasperation. One breakfast viewer vented: "Enough talk about smelly feet in flip-flops. I'm eating my breakfast."

Another called out the programme for its absurd visuals: "Clown show #GMB. Actually have a man in a suit wearing flip flops sitting at a driving game controller because they seemingly can't discuss an issue without some idiotic 'demonstration' of the issue," reports the Mirror.

And yet another added to the chorus of disapproval: "Second day discussing f*****g driving with flip flops. It's bloody obvious it's a dumb thing to do, but let's talk about it anyway."

Meanwhile, another viewer expressed their frustration at the show's choice of topics. They wrote: "All the s**t going on and GMB wants to debate flip flops. F*****g hell. Pathetic."

The controversy didn't end there, as X Factor star Chico and car enthusiast Yianni Charalambous were later invited onto the programme to discuss the appropriateness of wearing flip-flops while driving and whether fines should be imposed for doing so. While Chico was in favour of flip-flop wearing, Yianni stood firm in his opposition.

However, as the debate unfolded on screen, viewers at home were left puzzled by the decision to invite Chico to participate. One viewer questioned: "Who at ITV thought it was reasonable to give Chico airtime to subject us all to his opinion on anything."
